Patrick Zeller grew up in the
foothills of Litchfield, Connecticut. After studying classical theatre and
dance at Canterbury School in New Milford, CT he matriculated to Emerson
College in Boston where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts for
Theatre and Acting. He spent four months abroad in The Netherlands studying
acting, movement and Art History. Also while training at Emerson he studied
under Kristin Linklater, Tony Simotes, Ron Jenkins and Maurene Shea.
After a year of backpacking around the U.S. he continued on to work and study
with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts where a solid grounding
in classical text, voice and movement and a role in Shakespeare & Company’s
Boston production of The Mysteries initiated him into the world of professional
theatre.
From an extensive list of contacts and connections built in New England work
continued to flow from Regional Theatre, Film and Television. He relocated to
New York City in August of 2002. Since arriving in the Big Apple Patrick has
booked engagements on Law & Order, 6 Degrees, and Kidnapped as well as
spots for Bud Light, Heineken, Liz Claiborne and Men’s Health magazine to name
just a few. Wide screen appearances include End of the Spear (winner of the
Heartland Film Festival) and No Reservations (Directed by Scott Hicks,
Shine1996) Patrick also regularly reprises roles on all the New York Soaps.
In 2002 Patrick founded a documentary theatre ensemble, the Present Tense
Theater Project, inspired by the work of theatre artists: Caryl Churchill,
Shakespeare, Euripedes, Boal and Cornerstone Theatre Company, author Daniel
Quinn and physicist Frotjif Capra. The idea was to apply systems thinking to
story-telling in order to develop a theatre of necessity that would encourage
dialogue and engagement among communities with contradicting and conflicting
perspectives.
The group decided to tell the stories they saw unfolding everyday around them in
context of the myths and legends we had been told for generations. The plays
they generated would present an opportunity for conflict resolution and civic
dialogue. By pulling stories directly from the communities engaged in conflict
and weaving them into the company’s work, they could bring audiences together
who would normally have a difficult time sharing space let alone a
conversation.
Patrick continues to pursue his acting career around the country in Theatre,
Film and Television. He splits his time with patient and dedicated Fiancé,
Emily Lefren-Brown, in Brooklyn and Los Angeles.
